Three at-large Bexar Central Appraisal District Board of Directors positions will be on the November 3, 2026 general election ballot. The following information has been compiled for Bexar County residents interested in being on the ballot.
How do I obtain an application to be on the ballot?
An Application For a Place on the Ballot For a General Election for a City, School District or Other Political Subdivision is available on bcad.org or on website of the Secretary of State.
Candidates must indicate which place number they are running for on their application – Place 1, Place 2, or Place 3.
When is the application filing period?
Applications can be submitted from July 17, 2026 to August 18, 2026.
Where do I submit an application for the ballot?
Applications must be submitted to the Bexar County Elections Administrator, Michele Carew, at:

Is there a fee to file an application for the ballot?
There is a $400 filing fee to submit an application to be on the ballot. A candidate can also submit a petition with 500 signatures of registered Bexar County voters in lieu of the filing fee.
What is an Acknowledgment of Duties?
Texas Property Tax Code Section 6.0302 requires candidates for an appointive or elective position on an appraisal district’s board of directors acknowledge they have read and understand the duties of a member of the board. An Acknowledgment of Duties can be found on bcad.org and must be submitted to the chief appraiser BEFORE filing an application to be on the ballot.

Are there other filing requirements after I submit my application?
Yes. Candidates should be aware the Texas Ethics Commisssion requires additional filings, such as Appointment of a Campaign Treasurer, through the election and into the winning candidates’ term(s).
