Disabled Veteran's or Survivor's Exemption
- Have you fought for our Country?
- Did you become disabled while fighting for our Country?
- Did your spouse die while on active duty?
- Are you a surviving spouse of a deceased disabled veteran?
- Do you own property within Bexar County?
If you answered "yes" to more than one of the questions
above, then you may qualify for the Disabled Veteran's
exemption. This exemption can give you a discount of $5,000
to $12,000 off
of your property value, and it applies to all taxing
units.
The following are the requirements:
- Must produce a letter from the Veteran's Administration
stating that your service connected disability
percentage is greater
than 10%, or that the veteran died while on active
duty. This letter must be dated within the last six months.
- If a surviving spouse is applying, marriage and death certificates
are required.
- This exemption can be applied to any single property (doesn't
have to be primary residence).
- Deadline to file is April 30th of every year.

sure to include the proper identification) and return it to the
